ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — A woman was killed Thursday night after being hit by a car on northbound US-131.
Michigan State Police say the crash happened just before 8 p.m. just north of Wayland. A 72-year-old Grand Rapids woman had pulled over to look at a tire that was causing issues. The woman got out of her vehicle and was hit by a Buick LaCrosse.
Police say the woman was in the lane when she was hit.
The driver of the Buick, a 44-year-old Kalamazoo man, was not injured in the crash.
Police originally reported the victim was a 77-year-old Kentwood man, but later corrected this information.
Northbound US-131 was closed for several hours for investigation and to clear the scene.
The investigation into this crash is still ongoing.
