GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The eastbound M-6 ramp to eastbound I-96 closed at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 28 and is expected to remain closed through June 21.
The closure comes as part of a $7.5 million project by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) to rebuild the M-6/I-96 interchange in Cascade Township.
The work will include asphalt rebuilding and bridge improvements.
The detour is to head north on M-37 (Broadmoor Avenue) and east on M-11 (28th Street) to eastbound I-96.
Once this portion of the project is complete, the eastbound M-6 ramp to westbound I-96 is expected to close on June 22 and remain closed through Sept. 8.

The eastbound and westbound I-96 ramps to westbound M-6 are also scheduled to close. This closure is expected to take place from July 27 through Nov. 9.
The detour will be to head west on M-11 and south on M-37 (Broadmoor Avenue) to westbound M-6.
