6 people, including 4 teens, seriously injured in crash near Ford Airport

The collision caused one of the cars to catch fire, authorities said. All six people involved in the crash were seriously injured.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Six people were seriously injured Thursday in a crash near the Gerald R. Ford International Airport.

Deputies say the crash happened around 8 p.m. near 44th Street and Patterson Avenue. A car with four teenage occupants was southbound on Patterson Avenue and turning into the airport when it collided with a northbound car. 

The northbound car caught fire, police say.

All occupants—two adults and four teenagers—were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

This crash remains under investigation.
