Semi-truck crashed into stopped car on M-6, closed freeway

The Kent County Sheriff's Department received the call about the accident just after 6 p.m.

KENT COUNTY, Mich. — A semi-truck hit a stopped car on M-6 with three children in it, according to emergency responders. 

The Kent County Sheriff's Department said the crash happened Wednesday on westbound M-6 west of Broadmoor Avenue SE around 6 p.m. Westbound M-6 at M-37 was closed until 9 p.m.

The Dutton Fire Department Chief said a 5 or 6-year-old girl was taken to the hospital with no serious injuries. 

Prior to the closure, Jesse Lee, who works in the area said the on-ramp was backed up. 

Police advised people to avoid the area.
