KENT COUNTY, Mich. — Southbound US-131 after Post Drive has reopened Friday morning after being closed overnight due to downed power lines from Thursday night's severe weather.
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced the freeway closure at 9:29 p.m. Thursday night.
MDOT told 13 ON YOUR SIDE at 10:32 p.m. that the freeway was still closed as they removed the downed powerlines from the roadway.
The road was reopened around 5:30 a.m. Friday.
Consumers Energy is asking people to stay at least 25 feet away from downed power lines and report them by calling Consumers Energy at 1-800-477-5050.
