Watching Fourth of July fireworks in Grand Haven? Here's road closures to avoid

If you are preparing to see the Fourth of July fireworks this week in Grand Haven, be sure you take note of several road closures ahead of the event.

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — If you are preparing to see the Fourth of July fireworks this week in Grand Haven, be sure you take note of several road closures and other traffic modifications ahead of the event.

The fireworks take place on Wednesday, July 4 around 10:10 p.m. at the Lynne Sherwood Waterfront Stadium.

Prior to the show, the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety (GHDPS) will be closing several streets from 6:30 p.m. on July 4 through 2 a.m. on July 5. No traffic will be allowed on the streets while they are closed.

Here is a list of those road closures:

  • Harbor Drive between Sherman and N. First
  • Washington from Harbor to First
  • Franklin from Harbor to First
  • Clinton from Harbor to First
  • Lafayette from Harbor to First
  • Howard from Harbor to Sand

In addition to the above-mentioned road closures these additional traffic modifications will happen during the event:

  • Franklin Street will become a one-way road eastbound around 10 p.m. Officers from GHDPS will be at intersections helping direct traffic.
  • Seventh Street will also close from Franklin north to US-31 from about 10 p.m. until 12 a.m.
  • Left hand turns will not be allowed for both northbound and southbound traffic on US-31 between Jackson and Robbins Rd.
  • The drawbridge will be raised between 10 p.m. on July 4 and 2 a.m. on July 5.
  • No parking will be allowed on Franklin from Beacon Blvd to Harbor Drive from 6 p.m. on July 4 through 2 a.m. on July 5.
  • Multiple temporary "No Parking Tow Away" zones will be labeled around the downtown during the event.
