Amazon's first electric fleet making deliveries in Grand Rapids

Grand Rapids is the first city in the state to rollout the new changes.

MICHIGAN, USA — Amazon is going eco-friendly. The company has already started to switch to electric delivery vehicles.

Grand Rapids is the first city in the state to rollout the new changes.

Amazon says 40 of these state-of-the-art electric vehicles are already making deliveries in the Grand Rapids metro area.

The company started the process a few months ago and have increased their numbers in the last few weeks.

The goal is to have more than 100 electric vehicles operating out of the Grand Rapids hub.

"Amazon really believes in a sustainable future, we're actually looking to go net-zero carbon by 2040. And that's all part of Amazon's climate pledge," said Austin Stowe, an Amazon spokesperson.

Amazon has rolled out electric deliveries in more than 500 cities since last year, making it the fastest electric fleet rollout at this scale in the nation.

The zero-emission vehicles have already delivered more than 70-million packages across the country.
