GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Winter in West Michigan came in with an arctic blast. After last week's winter weather disrupted commutes and routines we're now facing another round of snow.
The National Weather Service (NWS) Grand Rapids issued Winter Storm Warnings for many West Michigan counties beginning Tuesday night at 10 p.m. Those warnings are set to last until 7 p.m. on Thursday.
As frigid temperatures pour into the Great Lakes region, lake-effect snow showers will be commonplace near and west of US-131. The most persistent bands will continue to bring moderate to heavy snow, which will cause localized travel impacts.
Lake-effect will persist into Thursday morning, with the greatest coverage of snow across the lakeshore counties. Conditions will eventually improve by Thursday afternoon as the ingredients for lake-effect snow wane. The expectation is for the last of lake-effect snow to end Thursday night.
