GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The National Weather Service (NWS) sent out a message Monday that will affect your morning commute on Tuesday.

A cold snap is headed to West Michigan and will drop the temperatures well below freezing. The rain that was falling Monday turned to snow overnight, and those wet roads are slick Tuesday morning.

The coldest days of the week will be Tuesday through Thursday. Wednesday will bring high temperatures in the teens and wind chills near zero.

The NWS says that the area most affected will be along US-131 and west to the lakeshore. Snow accumulations of one to three inches are expected between Monday night and Wednesday, with the highest snowfalls coming west of US-131.

The lakeshore also saw more erosion and flooding Monday night.
