GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Several hundred people are left without power Friday morning after West Michigan was hit with a snow storm overnight.
According to the Consumers Energy Outage Map, as of 5:30 a.m., more that 2,700 customers are without power.
Kent County is seeming the most impact, but there are smaller scattered outages across Ottawa, Muskegon, and Allegan counties as well.
Consumers said crews were out overnight and into Friday morning restoring power as quickly as they can. Officials say most power will be restored by midday Friday.
Customers can report an outage, check the status of an outage and get useful tips what to do after a storm by visiting the Consumers Energy Outage Center.
Consumers Energy also has the following reminders and safety tips while customers wait for their power to be restored:
- Think about getting and charging an emergency battery for your phone so that you’ll have charge if there’s ever an outage.
- Don’t play with fire. Skip the candles: don’t use candles during a storm, as they can be a major fire hazard.
- If you see a downed wire, please stay at least 25 feet away from it, and anything it is touching. Once you are safe, call 9-1-1. Then call us at 800-477-5050.
