Scattered power outages after storms sweep through West Michigan

Thousands of customers throughout West Michigan may be waking up without power after a string of thunderstorms swept through the area early Sunday.

WEST MICHIGAN - Consumers Energy is reporting scattered power outages throughout West Michigan Sunday morning.

They follow a couple strings of thunderstorms that swept through Saturday night into Sunday morning.

As of 5:16 a.m., more that 2,200 customers in the area of 4 Mile Road and Alpine Avenue in Grand Rapids were without power -- and more than 1,600 customers in the Comstock Park area.

According to the Consumers Energy Outage Map, more than 1,000 Allegan County customers were impacted by the storms.

There were a few hundred customers through Muskegon and Newaygo counties without power.

No word yet on when exactly customers can expect their power to be restored. According to the Consumers Energy website, crews are working 24/7 to restore power and have been fully mobilized to repair damages caused by the recent storms.
