GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Severe thunderstorms developed late Thursday afternoon over portions of West Michigan bringing heavy downpours leading to flood alerts, and strong winds gusting to 60+ mph causing wind damage and power outages.
Heavy Rainfall
Rain fell fast and furious - at the rate of 3'' per hour at times with some areas receiving over five inches, including
- 5.71'' - Morley
- 5.01'' - Deckers PWS
- 3.70'' - Howard City
- 3.42'' - Sand Lake
- 2.38'' -Pine Lake
Large Hail
Severe hail up to golf ball size fell in portions of Newaygo County.
Damaging Winds
Wind damage was reported through portions of Newaygo and Montcalm counties leading to several thousands customers without power.
