GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Citing significant snowfall in the forecast, Grand Rapids Public Schools called a full district closure for Friday, Jan. 12.
This includes after-school events and closes the administrative officers on Friday.
“The forecast confidence in a potentially dangerous storm is only increasing and we need to make sure we’re doing all we can to keep our scholars and staff safe,” GRPS Superintendent Dr. Leadriane Roby said. “We prefer to make these calls based on what actually materializes but with the anticipated timing of the storm impact hitting late in the morning, we need to make plans in advance for everyone’s benefit.”
This is the second closure for the 2023-2024 school year.
This storm system may also impact sporting events this weekend. The school district said they would provide updates later on.
