GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Portions of West Michigan saw heavy snowfall to kick off the week with several measurements being reported as over a foot.
Here’s a look at totals from across the area as of 2:00 PM, December 3rd:

Multiple locations are likely to break their previous records for the most daily snowfall for December 2nd.
The heaviest snow fell in southwest Michigan, creating white-out conditions resulting in multiple crashes. A 17-car pile-up on I-94 near the Hartford exit in Van Buren County shut the highway down for nearly 7 hours.
14 cars and 3 semi-trucks were involved in the crash with one person critically injured. Michigan State Police reported an additional 15 slide-offs unrelated to the pile-up.
