GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — Halloween is less than a week away, with eyes turning to that trick-or-treat forecast. Confidence is growing that Mother Nature will be bringing a trick rather than a treat in the way of weather around West Michigan.
HALLOWEEN HISTORY
Late October can feature almost anything weather-wise around West Michigan, making Halloween a true curveball of what to expect. Here’s a look at weather extremes on Halloween in Grand Rapids history:
FORECAST
Significantly colder air will be on the doorstep of the Great Lakes by the end of this weekend, settling into the region as next week arrives. High temperatures will plummet, with only 40s expected on Sunday and Monday. By Tuesday, daytime temperatures will struggle to climb out of the 40s, which would mark the chilliest day of fall so far.
The colder air over the warm waters of the Great Lakes will likely kick up a lake effect response, with spotty to scattered showers in the Halloween forecast. Temperatures in the upper 30s to lower 40s could allow snowflakes to mix in any shower activity that develops. More specific details will have to come closer to the actual day.
It’s almost a likelihood that layers will be needed for any trick-or-treaters around West Michigan!
