Two EF-0 tornadoes confirmed in Jackson County

The National Weather Service confirmed that two tornadoes touched down near Stockbridge Thursday afternoon.

JACKSON COUNTY, Mich. — The National Weather Service confirmed two EF-0 tornadoes touched down in Jackson County Thursday afternoon.

The first tornado touched down at 2:39 pm near Orchard Creek east of Fitchburg Road and south of Baseline Road. It was 150 yards wide and had wind gusts of 80 miles per hour. It was on the ground for four minutes covering one and a half miles. The National Weather Service says several homes had minor roof damage along with damage to a dozen trees and some crops.

The second tornado hit at 2:47 pm just north of Whitehead Lake and South of Territorial Road. It was 50 to 100 yards wide with wind gusts up to 70 mph. It was also on the ground for four minutes covering roughly two miles. One business had minor damage from the tornado, there was also some tree and crop damage found along its path.
