Several tornadoes caused damage across West Michigan amid a small outbreak, forecasters say.
A survey crew from the National Weather Service is exploring several locations across the region after multiple reports of tornadoes Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016. Six of those have been rated as of 10:30 a.m. Wednesday:
- EF-1 tornado in Montcalm and Ionia counties
- EF-1 tornado in Grandville and Wyoming, including maximum 100 mph straight-line winds
- EF-1 tornado in Allegan, Ottawa counties
- EF-1 tornado in Allegan, Van Buren counties
- EF-1 tornado in Allegan county
- EF-0 tornado in Grand Rapids
Confirmed tornadoes are rated on the Enhanced Fujita scale, which is a measure of the intensity of tornadoes based on their damage.
