OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — Thousands of people in West Michigan have power again after celebrating Thanksgiving Day without it.
But now, it looks like the largest area of impact is in Ottawa County, where there are people still without power because of the strong winds that barreled through West Michigan on Wednesday.
As of around 5:30 a.m., Friday, Nov. 29 about 2,200 Consumers Energy customers are without power, according to their Outage Map. The majority of people impacted are in Ottawa County where about 1,270 people are still in the dark.
If you see a downed wire, the Kent County Road Commission advises calling 911 before contacting Consumers Energy and to stay at least 25 feet away from it.
They are also working to clear the roads of trees, branches and other debris that are impacting traffic.
