GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Weather whiplash! Over the next week, we’ll go from near-record-high temperatures to below-average temperatures and the opportunity of accumulating snow.
Cooler, but seasonable weather kicks off the week. High temperatures will top out near 50 Monday, and low 50s on Tuesday. This will be coupled with sunshine and a breeze.
Impressive November warmth takes hold of the forecast Wednesday into Thursday. Numbers will climb into the lower 60s on Wednesday, then soar into the lower 70s on Thursday. In fact, Thursday will challenge record highs for Nov. 10 all around West Michigan. Dry conditions should prevail through Thursday, but there is a low-end chance of rain north of I-96 on Wednesday.
By Friday, a textbook fall low-pressure system will trek through the upper Midwest/Great Lakes region. Here in West Michigan, a cold front will sweep the area by the end of the day. It’ll lead to a few rain showers to wrap up the week, but the cold air that follows will be most impactful.
The weekend will feature sharply colder temperatures and the starting opportunity for lake-effect snow showers. High temperatures will only reach the middle to upper 30s Saturday and Sunday! Putting this all in perspective, West Michigan will go from 20+ above average Thursday to 10-15 below average over the weekend.
It is way too early to determine exact snowfall amounts, but there is an increasing likelihood that many will see accumulation late this weekend into next week. Typical snow belts, such as those along and west of US-131, could deal with the first travel impacts of the season.
All in all, there is a little something for everyone in this forecast. Sun, snow, cold, rain and warmth all in 10 days. We will continue to track and update you on the forecast all week long. Check here for the latest forecast details.
