GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — After rounds of lake-effect snow, West Michigan is bracing for even more Wednesday into Thursday.
The region could see 4" of snow or more, with the heaviest along and west of US 131 like lakeshore communities.
Wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph are also expected as this winter system materializes.
Because of these factors, 13 ON YOUR SIDE's team of Meteorologists issued a 13 Weather Impact Alert for Wednesday afternoon through Thursday.
WINTER STORM WATCH
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Wednesday at 5 p.m. until Friday at 1 a.m.
This includes Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon, Oceana, Allegan, Barry, Van Buren and Kalamazoo Counties.
TIMING
Expect flakes to start flying Wednesday evening around 4 p.m. through Thursday evening.
TOTALS
We're predicting accumulations between 3 and 8 inches of snow in portions of southwest and west central Michigan.
IMPACTS
Snow may cover the roads creating slick driving conditions, and the wind could cause reduced visibility for Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.
If you have to be out driving, it's best to give yourself extra time to get to your destination.
Remember to drive for the conditions, and keep it slow in the snow.
