SPARTA, Mich. — Division Street was bumping on Friday night as hundreds of people packed the streets of downtown Sparta for the kickoff of the 3rd annual Sparta Beer and Brat Street Festival.
"There are awesome brat flavors. There are activities you can come and do - some axe throwing, plant a succulent, do hydro dipping, caricature drawing. There are a ton of market vendors, and there's beer and brats," said event coordinator Beth Baltruczak.
The Beer and Brat Street Festival comes just weeks after Sparta celebrates its annual Town and Country Days - a festival that's been around for decades. Baltruczak says she's happy this relatively new festival has achieved a similar amount of success in the early going.
"We're just super excited. We started it a few years ago and didn't know what to expect, and we just got so many people coming out, and we're excited to have fun here in Sparta. This is an adult-geared festival, but definitely, families are welcome, and we're just excited to have everyone here," she said.
The festival will continue on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. There will be 11 bands performing across three stages.
