GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Kathrine, who goes by Katie, considers herself a princess, and she's got the outfits to match the role. She strives to look her best and enjoys painting her own nails. Katie is quite the game player, too, and she calls herself a "card shark." She knows the rules to a number of card games, but she also enjoys playing board games and solving puzzles. Katie loves all things Disney. She especially enjoys Disney movies, and she wants to visit Disney World someday. If there's one thing Katie likes better than card games and Disney, it's water. "She LOVES water, both swimming and playing in it," says a person who knows Katie well. "Katie also really enjoys being an artist and coloring." When she's asked about the qualities she wants in a forever family, Katie says she wants one who has pets, particularly a cat and a dog.
Katie is described as a bright, happy and smiley girl who loves to play and have fun. "She has a big heart and displays wonderful leadership qualities," says a person who knows her well. "Katie is very successful at creating meaningful social relationships and bonds with both her peers and adults." Katie also is described as loveable, friendly and motherly, and she enjoys helping younger children.
Katie would do well with almost any type of forever family, but they will need to make sure she gets the services that will benefit her. Katie would do best in a family who is patient, loving and affectionate and who can be consistent with rules and expectations. Her new forever family should be willing to engage Katie in fun activities – such as playing games inside and outside – and new experiences. In addition to pets, Katie wants to have a lot of siblings in her new forever family.
