See what you need to know when it comes to making the ultimate Jack-O-Lantern

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Randy Finch from Ice Brigade is not only known for his amazing ice carving skills, but also his pumpkin carving abilities!  Randy joined us to do a little carving and show us what we need to know when it comes to creating the ultimate Jack-O-Lantern.

Here are a few of Randy's tips:

  • Super glue will glue pumpkin to pumpkin if you want to make it wider or longer.
  • Spray your pumpkin with a little bit of bleach water will keep it from molding longer.
  • Spray a little Tabasco water or hot sauce water on to your pumpkin to keep the animals from eating it once you've carved it.
  • Also coating the Carved areas with Vaseline will create a seal and make your pumpkin last longer.
  • Use battery lights rather than candles to keep your pumpkin from drying out when you light it.
  • Painting are using permanent markers to decorate the outside of your pumpkin can be a safer way for kids to decorate them.
