GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The 27th annual Turkey Trot is fast approaching.
This year, the races theme is "Together We Are Better!" and takes place Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, Nov. 28 downtown Grand Rapids. The race starts outside Van Andel Arena and finishes inside the arena.
Organizers of the trot hope to bring the community together and raise awareness around physical fitness, movement and nutrition in a fun-filled way -- all while supporting after-school opportunities for Grand Rapids Public Schools students.
Last year, a record of $87,000 was raised for Grand Rapids Public Schools. The funds went towards ensuring students would not have to pay for after-school athletics.
Registration is now underway and for those interested, there are early bird promotion rates. The Mini Trot is also back again for runners ages 12 and under, and it's free.
