GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — West Michigan’s largest Home & Garden show is back for its 41st season at DeVos Place on Thursday, March 5 through Sunday, March 8.
The show features gardens, exhibitors and five different free seminar stages -- including the show's Garden to Table stage. There, the Canning Diva Diana Devereaux will lead a couple of canning techniques seminars over the course of the weekend.
Devereaux will discuss basic and advanced canning techniques, as well as the principals of canning high- and low-acid foods on Saturday, March 7 at noon and again on Sunday, March 8 at 2 p.m.
In this exciting seminar, Devereaux will teach the science and math used to keep you safe when home canning and preserving both high- and low-acid foods. Explore the principals of pH, time, temperature and density so you too may create safe home canning recipes to enjoy for years to come.
Her second seminar will be The Complete Guide to Pressure Canning. That happens on Saturday, March 7 at 2 p.m.
Looking to gain confidence in your kitchen when pressure canning? Devereaux will teach the fundamentals of canning low acids foods, provide tips on safe operation of your pressure canner, and debunk canning myths and fears. Learn how to safely preserve meats, vegetables and meals in a jar and more.
