MUSKEGON COUNTY, Mich. — Around 100 people gathered Saturday evening on Apple Avenue to remember Searra Lucas, a 24-year-old Muskegon mother who died after a deadly crash involving a semi on Wednesday.
A cross signed with messages by family and friends was nailed into the ground by Searra’s husband, and was then surrounded by flowers and candles.
“You can definitely tell that she touched the community,” said Aliyah Bloodworth, a close friend of Searra who has known her since they were six-months old. “She like, was in everyone's hearts and she was very outgoing. So anywhere she went, she made friends. I'm not surprised that there's so many people here at all. We all love her.”
Searra’s family members spoke to those attending to speak in her memory.
“She was a wonderful sister to me. We did mostly everything we could as little kids together,” said Kaylee Bolt, Searra’s younger sister. “She was amazing, loving, caring sister, to everyone, to my other siblings.”
Other community members also came to show their support, and expressed messages of taking the time to love on neighbors and family.
“We're all here to support family and friends, and just make sure that everyone knew how much of a good person she was,” said Bloodworth.
A GoFundMe is raising money to support the family for funeral costs and to support Searra’s husband and their three young children.
