ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — There's more snow coming to West Michigan. Experts are saying this upcoming week, West Michigan residents can expect a snowstorm. Many of the roads will also be heavily impacted by the winter weather.

Alex Doty from Ottawa County Road Commission said the upcoming snowfall could potentially impact road conditions.

"Drive a little bit slower when you see our trucks out there slow down, give them plenty of room to operate. We'll be continuing to watch the forecast, especially with the the current, you know, you know, possible extra snow that we might get," said Doty.

On Sunday, Allegan County Emergency Management posted to their social media page that a winter storm warning will be in effect from 1am Monday to 1am Tuesday in Allegan, Van Buren and Ottawa County.

Alex Doty from Ottawa County Road Commission said the county is preparing to clean the roads early tomorrow morning to make sure driving conditions are safe.

"So that might mean, you know, if we get something overnight, or, you know, early in the morning, calling our crews in early, you know, to make sure that they get a start on that for the morning commute. And then, you know, also having our crews hit those areas that maybe they didn't get attention to over the weekend. So some of those more rural areas and subdivisions that might take a while to get to, they'll be getting that as time allows," said Doty.

Most of Allegan County can expect to see 10 inches of snow—with some areas possibly getting up to 18 inches of snow. Because of this, they're encouraging people to stay off the roads. If you have to drive, they say to keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Doty said the snowfall could impact visibility and road conditions, so its best to give yourself some extra time and distance to make sure you're driving with caution.

"Just take it slow when you're out on the road, especially with these first snow snowfalls, it always seems like, you know, we got to get ourselves back into the winter driving mindset. So just, you know, give yourself extra time to go where you need to go. Drive a little bit slower," said Doty.
