GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — On Monday, 20-year-old Ericka Horan pleaded no contest to three separate charges in connection to a two-car crash on US-131 earlier this year.

The crash occurred near the Wealthy Street exit on the morning of Sunday, March 31. Authorities said an SUV, driven by Horan, rear-ended a smaller sedan. The impact caused the SUV to roll over and the sedan to catch on fire.

The driver of the sedan had minor injuries and was taken to a hospital. Horan's SUV had five people inside, including a 1-year-old child. Two of the people in the SUV were taken to a hospital. The child was not injured.

After the initial investigation, authorities did believe alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.

Horan pleaded no contest to Child Abuse in the 2nd Degree and two charges of Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) Causing Serious Injury. As part of the plea agreement, the other charges were dismissed.

Kent County Prosecuting Attorney Christopher Becker told 13 ON YOUR SIDE that they also made an agreement to minimum guidelines, or recommendations, of a sentence no worse than 36-71 months.

Becker said her sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.
