GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A 20-year-old driver is now facing charges for her role in a fiery crash on northbound US-131 last month.
Grand Rapids Police said a two-car crash happened on US-131 northbound near the Wealthy Street exit on the morning of Sunday, March 31.
Ericka Horan faces two counts of OWI causing serious injury, two counts of reckless driving causing serious impairment of a body function, OWI with an occupant under 16, and child abuse--2nd degree.
She's jailed in Ionia County on unrelated charges, GRPD said.
According to officers, both vehicles were traveling northbound on US-131 when an SUV rear-ended a smaller sedan, causing the SUV to roll over and the sedan to catch on fire.
The driver of the sedan had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital, police said.
Horan's SUV had five people inside, including a 1-year-old. Two people were taken to a local hospital. The child was not injured.
Authorities believe alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.
