Can you help identify this man? Grand Rapids Police want to talk to him about fatal hit-skip

An SUV struck 53-year-old Robert Delgato earlier this month and left him for dead. Detectives are sharing surveillance photos of a person of interest in the case.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Grand Rapids Police need your help finding the person responsible for hitting a man earlier this month and leaving the scene of the wreck.

Around 3:15 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, authorities found a man lying in the road at Division Avenue S and Andre Sreet SW.

Detectives now believe a mid-2000s Honda Pilot fatally struck 53-year-old Roberto Delgato in the street and left him there.

Earlier this month, GRPD shared two surveillance photos of that suspect vehicle now described as a 2006 – 2008 Honda Pilot that is dark in color (black, grey, or dark blue).

On Monday, detectives shared two clear photos of who they believe is their person of interest in the case. They need your help finding out who he is. Authorities on Monday also shared two new photos of the suspect vehicle before the crash.

If you can help, you can call GRPD or Silent Observer. Silent Observer is offering up to $3,200 for tips that lead to an arrest.

Investigators said the SUV would have significant damage to the driver’s side headlight and damage to the hood on the driver’s side. It is also likely the windshield is cracked.

Based on surveillance video in the area, the SUV took off going north on Division, then turned east onto Burton. Video suggests the vehicle may have turned north onto Francis Avenue SE.

Now, authorities are asking those who live in the area to help them stitch together where the SUV went next.
