GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened on the West Side Thursday evening.
Around 8:10 p.m. officers responded to a shooting on Lincoln Avenue NW near Second Street NW. When police arrived, they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
A 22-year-old man had life-threatening injuries and he was immediately given medical aid by officers. A woman who was suffering less serious injuries was also given medical attention before being transported to Butterworth Hospital. She is expected to survive.
Manuel Salgado died from his injuries at the scene.
Grand Rapids Police said the victims were confronted by two suspects before the shooting. One suspect is described as a black man between 20 and 30 years old who is about 6-foot to 6-foot-4. Police said he has a dark complexion, braided hair and a mustache. He was last seen wearing dark clothing.
The other one is also a black man between 40 and 50 years old who is about 6-foot. Police said he has a dark complexion and was last seen wearing all dark clothing.
