MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. — A man convicted of manslaughter after taking a no contest plea deal learned his sentence Thursday.
Jermaine Clifford pled no contest to the killing of 38-year-old Carrie Golidy from Muskegon Heights in 2023.
A judge in the 14th Circuit Court in Muskegon sentenced Clifford to 43 months to a maximum of 60 years in prison with a credit for 372 days served.
Golidy was shot and killed on Oct. 30, 2023 in the 2300 block of Howden Street in Muskegon Heights.
Callers reported several shots being fired and one caller said someone was shot.
Muskegon Heights Police officers were dispatched to the scene and when they arrived, they found Golidy with a gunshot wound.
MHPD began to treat Golidy until the Muskegon Heights Fire Department and Trinity Health EMS arrived. She was then taken to the hospital for further treatment.
On Nov. 1, 2023, MHPD said Golidy succumbed to her injuries and died.
Clifford was originally charged with six counts before taking the plea deal and pleading no contest to manslaughter in exchange for dismissing the other five counts.
