MUSKEGON, Mich. — On Wednesday, 38-year-old Deangelo Bolden-Sims had a preliminary examination for the August 2024 murder of 48-year-old Carrlos Piggee.

Bolden-Sims was charged with open murder and given a $300,000 bond in September after he turned himself in at the Muskegon County Courthouse.

Before turning himself in, the Muskegon Police Department had listed him as a wanted person and was asking for the public's help in finding him.

After Wednesday's preliminary examination, Bolden-Sims was bound over to circuit court and will stand trial.

Piggee's family shared a statement with 13 ON YOUR SIDE at that time that said, in part:

"THANK YOU to everyone who worked tirelessly to help locate the defendant. Your support has meant the world to us during this incredibly difficult time. I feel a profound relief that the individual responsible for my husband’s death is in custody. It is my hope that everyone involved in helping him evade justice since August 31, 2024, will be held accountable and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

I pray that you never find yourselves in our position, one of immense, unspeakable pain."
