Men charged with armed robbery, murder after 26-year-old found dead along Grand Rapids creek

The men were charged with felony murder and two counts of armed robbery. One also faces a charge of lying to police.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Two men have been arrested and charged for a body found along Plaster Creek in late 2023. The Grand Rapids Police Department claims it was from an armed robbery.

Omi Medina-Pagan, 47, and Elitud Lazaro, 36, were both charged with felony murder and two counts of armed robbery. Medina-Pagan is also charged with lying during a violent crime investigation. 

Both men were already in custody for this crime when they were charged. 

Officers were called to Roosevelt Park on Godfrey Avenue SW around 10:40 a.m. on Dec. 16. There, they found a dead man along the water.

The medical examiner later ruled the death a homicide. The victim was identified as 26-year-old Pacifique Uwimana.
