Man arrested in connection to 2 different arson fires in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A man has been arrested in connection with two different arson fires that happened in Kalamazoo in August, according to the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety. 

On Thursday, KDPS arrested a 24-year-old man in connection to two separate fires in vacant homes on Aug. 28. 

The first fire was reported at 1:36 a.m. in the 1700 block of Humphrey Street. KDPS said it was brought under control within 15 minutes. 

The second fire was reported at 1:44 a.m. in the 1100 block of Sherwood Avenue and took about 45 minutes to put out. 

Police said the man will be arraigned on Friday afternoon. 

This is the second arrest made this month in connection to arson fires in Kalamazoo. 

On Sept. 5, a 32-year-old man was arrested in connection to multiple structure fires across Kalamazoo. He's facing multiple arson charges.
