KALAMAZOO, Mich. — After four days, the City of Kalamazoo has lifted a boil water advisory affecting several streets in the city.
According to the city, crews were working to repair the water infrastructure on West Main Street. However, during the work there was a temporary loss of water pressure and a precautionary boil water advisory was issued on Thursday of last week.
As of Monday at 11:30 a.m., the city has lifted the boil water advisory.
"Bacteriological sampling within the affected area verified that the water is safe to drink," the city said in a statement on Monday.
Affected areas included:
- West Main Street
- From Wealthy Street (western boundary) to Pinehurst Boulevard (eastern boundary), both sides of the roadway.
- Jennison Avenue
- From Kenwood Street (northern boundary) to West Main Street (southern boundary), both sides of the roadway.
- East Westwood Drive
- From West Main Street (northern boundary) south to West Westwood Drive (southern boundary), both sides of the roadway.
- West Westwood Drive
- From West Main Street (northern boundary) south to East Westwood Drive (southern boundary), both sides of the roadway.
The city said the advisory was only precautionary, and there haven't been any confirmed tests showing bacteria in the water main where they were repairing the infrastructure.
