GRAND RAPIDS, Mich — The organizers of the annual Christkindl Markt announced there will be new ways to enjoy the upcoming holiday-themed village this year.
Online reservations recently opened for the new exclusive Alpenglobe Experience.
The structure of the Alpenglobe, a secluded dining enclosure, mimics the shape of a snow globe.
The Alpenglobes are heated and can seat up to eight people, offering a panoramic view of the Christkindl Markt.
There's a Bluetooth sound system and adjustable lighting in each Alpenglobe for guests to choose how they amp up the holiday ambiance.
The CEO and President of the Grand Rapids Downtown Market, Mimi Fritz, said this new feature builds upon the festive environment this European-themed Christmas village is known for.
“The Christkindl Markt is designed around well-crafted holiday experiences that immerse visitors in seasonal charm,” said Fritz. “Our Alpenglobes take it to the next level, providing guests with the sensation of experiencing the Christkindl Markt through an illuminated snow globe.”
There are six Alpenglobes available per three-hour time slot and reservations are necessary.
Groups are welcome to come and go from their Alpenglobe as they please while enjoying the market.
Food can be pre-ordered to the Alpenglobe and will be delivered when your group arrives. Groups are also welcome to bring food from Downtown Market or Christkindl Markt vendors into the globe.

The Christkindl Markt also opened reservations for its outdoor curling experience on Thursday.
Organizers said tickets to access the one-hour curling reservations sold out during their first year.
This year, to allow for more guests to partake in the fun, they’ve doubled the amount of ice sheets from two to four.
The market also doubled the amount of vendors visitors can choose from.
There will now be more than 60 vendor booths present at the Christkindl Markt, running from Nov. 15 through Dec. 23.
