GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Nearly a month later, police are still searching for who killed 15-year-old Amillier Penn while he was playing football with his friends—and now, they're asking for the community's help.

Penn was with his friends in the 400 block of Umatilla Street in Grand Rapids when he was shot and killed on June 2. He was not armed, and his death was ruled a homicide.

No arrests have been made in connection to his death. Police are now reaching out to the community for help.

“Many people were outside enjoying the warm weather when Amillier was shot to death,” said Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom. “We have already interviewed a number of witnesses but are asking for anyone who may have seen or heard something related to this tragic murder to come forward. Even seemingly small details can advance this case and help GRPD bring justice for Amillier and his family.”

Police are particularly interested in speaking to the driver of an Enterprise truck that was seen in the area of the shooting on a dash camera.

Penn has since been remembered as an integral part of his close-knit family. Bardha Kurti, Penn's cousin, said their family members around Albania and Europe are grieving with them.

Kurti called for whoever shot Penn to come forward.

"Turn yourself in," said Kurti. "Make things easy for those who are involved and please don't hurt anybody else. We don't want nobody else to get hurt and no one, no other family to go through our pain."

West Michigan Silent Observer is offering a $3,200 reward for information in the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Grand Rapids Police Department at 616-456-3380 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345 or at www.silentobserver.org. .
