GRANDVILLE, Mich. — The threat made toward "Grandville Intermediate" on Wednesday has been determined to be not credible, according to the Grandville Police Department.
School officials were first alerted of the threat on Wednesday through OK2SAY, a tip line for students to report possible threats and other concerns.
Because the threat was received Wednesday evening, the Grandville Public Schools district was closed Thursday out of an abundance of caution.
Police have determined that the threat is not believed to be credible.
Police say other schools both across the state and outside of Michigan received a similar threat, which claimed that someone would be pulling the fire alarm on Thursday and then attacking students as they evacuated the building.
This incident remains under investigation.
It is unclear if Thursday evening activities will still be held at this time.
Police are encouraging anyone with information on threats or other safety concerns to report it to OK2SAY or Silent Observer. Any threats you come across should also not be shared further on social media.
This comes less than a week after Grandville school officials and police investigated a separate threat. Other schools in West Michigan have also looked into threats in the past week, including Jenison, East Kentwood, Byron Center, Three Rivers and Newaygo.
Multiple schools canceled at least one day of classes last week due to these threats.
