1 week after Penelope Wise went missing, her family is still searching for her and asking the community for help

With the Kent County Sheriff's Office releasing new security video, an online tip line has been launched for community members to share photos, tips and information.

CEDAR SPRINGS, Mich. — Friday marks one week since 17-year-old Penelope "Penny" Wise walked away from her home near Morley Park in Cedar Springs.

"We want her to know that we love her, we care for her," said her mother Mishael Wise. "Our number one priority is we want to know she's safe. We, we need to for her to reach out to somebody."

Penelope went missing on Friday, May 31.

The Kent County Sheriff's Office released security video on Friday, June 7 from Rockford Park Drive, showing Penny walking near the White Pine Trail wearing a pink tank top and shorts. The video was from the same evening she left home.

"I was glad to see the video, but at the same time it made reality hit even more," said Mishael. "When you see something, it more solidifies we are really living this, and it's not just, you know..."

"... a bad dream," said Penny's father, David Wise.

Investigators are now searching the area between Rockford and Cedar Springs.

"We've had our Mounted Unit, our Trail Patrol, our Drone Unit, and our detectives and uniform patrol out looking on a daily basis in the areas that she had last been seen," said Kent County Undersheriff Bryan Muir.

The Kent County Sheriff's Office does not currently suspect any foul play and said she left on her own accord.

Both Penny's family and KCSO are concerned for her well-being, stating that she has certain needs that her family must make sure she receives care for.

Her parents said they are thankful for the large showing of support from the community, and urged for people to continue keeping an eye out for their daughter, who they described as "bubbly" and "outgoing."

"It brings us comfort knowing that there is such a community, especially here in Cedar Springs, that is just outpouring, and they're worried, and they want her to come home too," said Mishael.

"We've used everything we can resource-wise at the sheriff's office," said Undersheriff Muir. "The community is greater than we are, and we want to make sure that they're aware of the situation. Report any tips back to us as soon as they can."

KCSO has launched a tip line that can be found here where anyone with tips, pictures or video can share them with the sheriff's office.

People can also call the KCSO Investigation Division at (616) 632-6125.

"Any tip that you have, small, big, please send it in. We appreciate everything," said David.

Penny weighs around 120 pounds and has blonde hair and braces.
