Police identify 60-year-old Kalamazoo man found dead in apparent hit-skip; Investigators still searching for driver who ran

Detectives are asking anyone who may have passed along Mills Street from Kings Highway to E. Michigan Avenue around 10 p.m. on Saturday to call police.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Kalamazoo authorities are still looking for those responsible for striking a 60-year-old bicyclist this weekend and leaving the scene of the accident.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety said Leroy Carl Lawson was found dead on the road on Mills Street near Oneil Street around 10 p.m. on Saturday, April 27.   

Police shared their sincerest condolences to his friends and family. 

Detectives still need your help finding out what happened to him. 

Authorities believe he was the victim of a hit-and-run crash, though they need drivers who may have been in the area of Mills Street from Kings Highway to E. Michigan Avenue around 10 p.m. that night to give them a call. 

Any observation during that time could help detectives find out how this happened and who was involved. 

Anyone with information is asked to call the KDPS Criminal Investigation Division at 269-337-8139 to speak with a Detective.
