Children recovering after Wednesday night crash that killed their mother in Lowell

The Kent County Sheriff's Office says the two children in the crash are doing well and are in stable condition at the hospital.

LOWELL, Mich. — The Kent County Sheriff's Office shared an update of the the survivors of a fatal crash in Lowell Thursday evening.

The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. at the intersection of Alden Nash Avenue and Emery, deputies said.

A 42-year-old woman from Belding and a 39-year-old woman from Lowell Twp were killed in the crash. Two children, a 4-year-old and an 11-year-old, were in the backseat of one of the vehicles with a 36-year-old adult.

The three passengers were taken to the hospital, the 36-year-old by Aeromed.

KCSO says the two children are doing well and are in stable condition at the hospital and the 36-year-old is now in serious but stable condition.

A 20-year-old woman from Greenville was driving the other vehicle involved and she was also transported to the hospital. KCSO did not provide an update on her condition.

According to KCSO investigation of the scene shows the Chevy was traveling southbound on Alden Nash when it crossed the centerline, striking the Buick.

Investigators believe that seatbelt usage may have been a factor in the crash fatalities.
