GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The man killed in an early morning shooting has been identified, police say.
Jeremy Parnell, 35, died on June 29 following a shooting in south Grand Rapids. His death has been ruled a homicide.
Officers first heard about the shooting around 12:20 that morning. Police were dispatched to Ardmore Street SE and Thelma Avenue SE for a report of the sound of gunshots.
GRPD said officers found evidence of a weapon being fired, but no victim on the scene.
A short while later, a man arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, police said.
Parnell arrived at the hospital around 3 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the chest. He later died.
The investigation by the Major Case Team at GRPD is ongoing.
