'I'm in disbelief' | Daughter of murdered Muskegon Heights man speaks out

La Shanna Farmer described her dad Michael Farmer as a kind, family-focused man who put others before himself.

MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. — 13 ON YOUR SIDE spoke with the oldest daughter of a murdered Muskegon Heights man Thursday.

Authorities say Michael Farmer, 63, was found dead in his car in early July after being reported missing about a week beforehand.

Robert Reed, 36, of Muskegon Heights, and Leland Snyder, 41, of Muskegon, are in custody, and each face open murder charges in connection with Farmer's death.

La Shanna Farmer described her dad as a family man, traveler, entrepreneur and his family's biggest supporter.

"He loved life. He was a kind, hardworking man. He was well-known around Muskegon," she said.

Farmer had four children and seven grandchildren. His daughter said he was always looking out for other people.

"He took care of everybody else before he took care of himself."

She said family was everything to him.

"He was so proud of us. It didn't matter what we did in life."

Now, she said her family is lost.

"Just the most hurtful, stressful, unbelievable tragedy...I'm in disbelief."

Farmer told 13 ON YOUR SIDE she can't comprehend coping with something so painful and is dedicated to justice for her dad.

"I just hope every time they close their eyes that they see his face," she said.

Muskegon authorities are still looking into the case, and ask if you have any information to help them, that you give them a call at 231-724-6750 or Silent Observer at 231-722-7463.
