MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. — A man convicted in the killing of a Muskegon Heights woman back in 2022 learned his prison sentence in court.
Last month, a jury found him guilty on all counts in the murder of Rayna Garrett. Last week, the judge sentenced him to a minimum sentence of 562 months (46.8 years) and a maximum sentence of 100 years in prison.
According to a probable cause document filed in the case, Plummer fired a shot from a rifle that killed Garrett on April 24, 2022, outside a home on Riordan Street in Muskegon Heights.
Detectives said Plummer fled Michigan to Chicago within a day of her killing. When he returned, he claimed he left his cell phone in Chicago.
Authorities said he lied about his communication with other witnesses, his contact with firearms and his location during and after the killing.
A jury convicted Plummer on all counts, including second-degree murder, lying to police and weapons charges.
