Allegan County family involved in deadly wreck to move forward with organ donation from oldest son

Danny Savage, the father, was killed in the crash on Sunday. His wife and three sons were hospitalized.

ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. — An Allegan family already mourning the loss of a father killed in a wreck recently said goodbye to their oldest son who had been gravely injured.

The Savage family and their three boys were involved in a crash in Fillmore Township on June 30. It happened at 136th Avenue and 58th Street.

The Allegan County Sheriff's Office said the family was headed westbound on 136th Avenue and didn't stop for the stop sign at 58th Street. That's when they were hit by a pickup truck, the sheriff's office said.

The pickup driver wasn't hurt.

Family member Tina Josten said Danny Savage was killed. She said the youngest son could come home soon and Danny’s wife Chelsea is awake but has a long recovery ahead of her.

Another son is still in the hospital in serious condition.

On Saturday, Josten said Mason, the oldest, has been taken off of life support and died. The family has decided to donate his organs.

Josten said her nephew Danny was a jokester who loved to have fun. She said he was a true family man who always put his wife and kids first.

The family set up a GoFundMe to help with medical expenses,
