GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Uptown Holiday Elf Scavenger Hunt is returning for its second year, leading right into the Uptown Holiday Shop Hop.
In the contest organized by Uptown Grand Rapids Inc., participants of all ages are tasked with finding the “mugshots” of at least 20 mischievous elves for a chance to win a special prize.
The hunt's objective is to use a bit of holiday spirit to get the community exploring and engaging with the Uptown district, consisting of Eastown, East Fulton, Wealthy Street and East Hills.
The mug shots are hidden in each of the 90+ businesses participating in this year’s hunt. Which businesses are hiding which elf? That's for the community to discover.
The only supplies participants need for the contest are player's cards to record the name of each elf they find. Cards can be picked up at any of the participating businesses, or, you can download the card and print it at home.
Completed cards can then be turned in for a chance to win a gift basket of goods sourced from local businesses. Players can only return their completed cards to one of the contest’s two drop-off collection sites: Basic Bee Boutique or Rebel.
There will be one additional drop-off site available only during the Uptown Shop Hop at the Uptown GR official Shop Hop Hub located at Hermitage At Diamond.
This year the scavenger hunt has been extended by several days. It kicks off on Saturday, Nov. 23 and will run through the Uptown Shop Hop on Thursday, Dec. 5.
Opportunities to win the contest have been expanded this year as well, with five gift baskets available for winners. Four baskets are geared toward the general public and one is geared toward children.
All players will receive an official “Elf Hunter Extraordinaire” sticker badge.
“Uptown Grand Rapids is proud to support our local businesses and foster a diverse, welcoming, and thriving city district," said Ingrid Miller, executive director of UGRI. "We invite Elf Hunters of all ages to explore our festive streets and discover a new favorite place to visit time and time again long after the holiday season.”
