MICHIGAN, USA — Election Day is finally here and many Michiganders plan to brave the rain to cast their ballot.
According to the State of Michigan, every Michigan voter who votes in person on Election Day must either have a photo ID or sign an affidavit attesting they don't have one.
A Michigan driver's license or a Michigan personal identification card can satisfy the requirement for a photo ID.
Those who don't have either of these documents can show any of these forms of photo ID as long as they're current:
- Driver’s license or personal ID card issued by another state
- Federal, state, or local government-issued photo ID
- U.S. passport
- Military photo ID card
- Student photo ID card from an educational institution
- Tribal photo ID card
Voters who don't have an acceptable photo ID or who forgot to bring an acceptable photo ID can still vote, but they must sign an affidavit.
More information about registering to vote or where you can cast your ballot can be found here.
