LANSING, Mich — On the last Tuesday in February, Michiganders will line up at the polls to cast their vote in the 2024 presidential primary.
The election takes place on Tuesday, Feb. 27 and the polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. You must be in line by 8 p.m. to vote.
In order to vote in the 2024 Michigan presidential primary you will need to be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, a resident of Michigan, and not currently serving a jail or prison sentence.
You do not need a photo ID to vote. If you do not have an ID or forgot it, you will be asked to sign an affidavit saying you are not in possession of a photo ID.
In Michigan, it is prohibited to display any election-related materials within 100 feet of the entrance to a polling location.
Your polling place can be found on the Michigan Government's website. You can either search by voter information, driver's license number, address or county.
Michigan's absentee voting begins 40 days before election days. Absentee ballots can be cast by mail, by drop box, at an early voting site or at a clerk's office. Learn more about absentee voting here.
Early voting can begin as early as 29 days before the election, but most early voting locations will begin welcoming voters on Saturday, Feb. 17. You can find polling locations for early voting here.
