CINCINNATI — He grew up playing on the diamonds of West Michigan, and now Blake Dunn can say he's made it to the highest level of competition in baseball.
The Cincinnati Reds announced just after 2 p.m. on Tuesday, through a post on X, that they were calling Dunn up to Major League Baseball. The post read "He Dunn did it. Welcome to The Show, Blake!"
The former 13 ON YOUR SIDE Scholar Athlete of the Week has been playing professional baseball at the minor league level since 2021. This season he's played 44 games for the Louisville Bats at the Triple-A level. He has a .223 batting average with 33 hits, 29 runs, 22 runs batted in, and four home runs. In 2023, Dunn was named Cincinnati's minor league player of the year.
The Reds are in the midst of a six-game road trip. They will be playing in Denver against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday and Wednesday before returning to Cincinnati on Thursday where they'll begin a four-game series against the Cubs.
